Q: What is ASCS 2023?

A: The second edition of the Asian Student Council Symposium (#ASCS 2023), the flagship event of ISCB-SC and RSGs in the Asian region. It brings together researchers across Asia and elsewhere working in Bioinformatics and related fields to network, share their research, and learn from experts. Please use the website home page for more information. The first edition, which took place in 2022, was a huge success. You can read about it here.  

Q: When and where will ASCS 2023 take place?

A: 25th November, 2023 in Virtual Mode.

Q: What will the ASCS 2023 program consist of?  

A: The program will include keynote talks, student presentations (oral, poster, and flash talks), panel discussion, and exciting competitions. More details on this can be found in the Program tab

Q: Who are the keynote speakers for ASCS 2023?

A:  Prof. Shoba Ranganathan, Hon. Prof. Macquarie University, Australia is one of our confirmed keynote speakers. 

Q: Who are the organizing committee members of ASCS 2023?

Q: What is the registration fee for ASCS 2023?

A: There is a nominal fee attached. Please note that options for free registration are also available for the symposium. Details about registration can be checked here. 


Queries on Abstract Submission

Q: When is the submission deadline?

A: 17th October 2023

Q: Where can I submit my abstract?

A:  You can submit your abstracts at https://forms.gle/jwtHiR6qWojDk2Yv8.

Q: Where can I find more information on abstract submission?

A: Please see the detailed abstract guidelines at https://ascs2023.iscbsc.org/abstract-submission/.

Q: Will I receive an invitation letter if my poster/presentation is accepted?

A: We do not send invitation letters (neither electronic nor paper) for poster/presentation acceptance. We only send a confirmation email to the author who submitted the abstract. This author is considered the presenting author and not necessarily the first author.

Q: If I am selected for an oral presentation, should I also prepare a virtual poster?

A: We strongly encourage you to submit a poster even if you are selected to present your work orally.

Q: If I am selected for a flash talk presentation, should I also prepare a virtual poster?

A: You must submit a poster in this case. Your flash talk will only act as a pitch for your poster.

Q: Where can I find a template for oral/poster/flash talk presentation?

A:  The selected authors will receive the details regarding the template via email.

Q: What language will the symposium sessions and materials be presented in?

A: All sessions and materials will be presented in English.

Q: When can I get the instructions for the virtual event?

A: Please visit the website homepage for the guidelines on the virtual event. More information on how to join the symposium on 25th November 2023 will be sent via email to all registrants in due course of time.

Q: Will the symposium be recorded? 

A: All presenters are expected to submit a recording, Everything will be recorded on the platform and those recordings will be available on the platform for 6 months at which point those who have given permission will be moved to our YouTube channel and the content library. The recordings of those who do not wish to share their recording will be deleted permanently after 6 months of the event.
